Meet Di,

Di is a children’s therapist who has worked in childhood trauma since 1989. Beginning her career as a Nursery Nurse, Di trained in Transactional Analysis Counselling, non-directive play therapy, social work and sensory-motor psychotherapy, working with organisations such as NSPCC and various County Councils.

Di has lectured at universities and conferences in the fields of child trauma, play therapy and child development. She has contributed to a published work in the field of Transactional Analysis and has developed and delivered several comprehensive training programmes relating to therapeutic parenting and the impact of trauma on development.

Di is passionate about a holistic approach to recovery and utilises many of the strategies and philosophies that have nourished her along her own healing journey. Di incorporates yoga, breathwork and meditation into her work, alongside art and play. She encourages mindful interaction with nature and utilises her pets as therapy. Di is a lifelong learner and frequently integrates new insights into the therapy and resources she delivers.

Di works with children, families and professionals in various settings using play therapy, storytelling and body-based psychotherapy. These approaches interweave to aid recovery from developmental, attachment and trauma challenges.

Why does Di do this work?

The life that we have lived impacts the way we make meaning of our world and affects our relationships, habits and learning. Di’s work enables children to gain self-awareness of their situation, develop skills, and learn effective strategies to make meaning of their world and begin each new chapter with an opportunity for learning, growth and healing.

Find out more about our therapeutic stories!

Di uses stories to aid children in expressing their lives, their worries and their beliefs. The stories provide deep therapeutic messages for children which help provide new perspectives on the world and teach new life skills to aid recovery. Our therapeutic stories help both adults and children, strengthening communication, understanding and positive interaction.

We have a range of therapeutic stories and resources available to support you with each story recorded for you to listen to with your child.

The Chapters is
fundamentally about the children.

The children we love. The children we work with. The children we have been.
